Purrs & Pages: A Grown-Up Book Fair

Your favorite grown-up book fair is back for its second year! Purrs & Pages returns with books, bookish gifts, and handcrafted treasures from local vendors, all in support of the lifesaving work of Ten Lives Cat Rescue.

Spend an afternoon exploring unique finds from independent authors, bookstores, artists, and makers while enjoying craft beer and small bites from Crook Point Brewing Company. Whether you’re searching for the perfect holiday gift, discovering your next favorite read, or treating yourself, every purchase helps the cats in Ten Lives’ care.

Meet the Bookstores:

• The Little Bubblegum Bookshop: Based in Providence, The Little Bubblegum Bookshop is Rhode Island’s first romance-only bookstore, bringing all the romance, whimsy, and bookish joy! From swoony new releases and and fun bookish goodies, there will be plenty to browse and fall in love with.
• Weird Providence: Weird Providence is a specialized bookstore located in the historic Arcade in downtown Providence, Rhode Island, dedicated to cosmic horror, weird fiction, and esoterica. Formerly known as Lovecraft Arts & Sciences, the shop serves as a cultural hub for the dark literature community, offering a curated selection of indie horror, occult texts, role-playing games, and macabre merchandise. They celebrate the literary legacy of H.P. Lovecraft and are deeply tied to the community that hosts NecronomiCon, the international festival of weird fiction and art.

Meet the Authors:

• Alicia Gregoire: Alicia Gregoire is a Massachusetts-based author of contemporary fantasy with a weakness for complicated characters, messy relationships, and worlds where magic tends to make everything worse before it makes anything better. She is the author of Phoenix Rising, the first book in the Phoenix Rising Sequence, as well as Scavenger Night and There Goes November Again. When she isn’t writing, she can usually be found surrounded by books, caffeine, and one judgmental cat.
• Hannah R. Goodman: Psychotherapist by day and writer by night, award-winning author Hannah R. Goodman prefers tea over coffee, cats over dogs, and staying in over going out. Her newest YA novel, High School Epic, captures the chaos of teenage life in the early 1990s with raw honesty, humor, and heart.
• J. L. Willow: J. L. Willow is the author of several works including the Amazon bestselling novel Missing Her. She graduated from Stevens Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Engineering in mechanical engineering and a minor in engineering management. While she spends her days working in her field of study, her nights are spent dreaming up new thrilling (and often horrifying) tales.
• Jessie Joi: Jessie Joi is a sea witch, fantasy-romance author, and avid environmental advocate. She splits her time between communing with the spirits of nature, collecting trash from the beach, and writing down the dreams that turn into her next novels. Jessie is the author of The Turning Tides Series, a fantasy romance duology about merfolk in the modern world and the witch’s apprentice, a witchy murder mystery set in the heart of New Orleans. • Kelly Swan Taylor: Growing up immersed in beloved “Teen” novels, award-winning author Kelly Swan Taylor crafts her own sweet stories that bridge the gap between middle grade (MG) and young adult (YA) fiction. From friendship adventures to chilling mysteries and thrillers, all with a sporty twist and a dash of romance, her contemporary novels ignite the imagination while championing the everyday hero. Building on that foundation, Kelly’s work now bridges upper YA into New Adult fiction, offering the same heart with a more mature perspective for readers ready for what comes next.
• Renee Valentine: Local debut author of A Love-Love Match all about second chances while in Paris. When not writing, Renee Valentine enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

Meet the Vendors:

• Bewick’d Studio: Magical home fragrances for readers, dreamers & lovers. Our luxury scents are uniquely blended and poured at home in small batches. We make candles, wax melts, room sprays, car diffusers & more that are pet safe for book lovers.
• ChillBear Confections: ChillBear Confections is a local RI, woman-owned business. They function as a cottage bakery doing markets and events, as well as fulfilling small and large catering orders online. There are occasional pre-drop orders on their Instagram page, so make sure to follow them! They make cookies of all sorts as well as some Egyptian and Middle Eastern desserts that the owner was taught how to make by her Egyptian father-in-law.
• Euphoric Chapters: Euphoric Chapters is a woman owned business that brings our favorite stories to life through makeup and bookish merch across all genres. Our makeup is proudly cruelty free, paraben free and vegan!
• Legendary Lynn: Lynn’s artwork of magical cuties reflect her inspirations from fairytales, animals, and the supernatural. She sells stickers, prints, enamel pins and more. On site mini pet portraits are available.
• LoveLiz Creations: LoveLiz Creations makes handmade book sleeves and e-reader sleeves for readers who love to take their books everywhere. Each piece is thoughtfully sewn with care, combining cozy style with everyday protection. Created for book lovers, every sleeve is designed to keep your next chapter safe.
• Made by Taylor: As a fellow book lover, Made by Taylor channels her passion for reading and creating into making her own handcrafted hardcovers! She creates unique designs and make the covers entirely from scratch. On top of that, she also creates unique enamel pins – both book-related and not!
• Madi Mae Makes: Madi Wolf is a law student trying to pay down her law school debt by creating things by hand! She loves all things pink, whimsical, and divalicious! She is an avid reader who loves romance and literary fiction, and she runs an Etsy page that takes custom orders. She’s excited to share her creations with the community!
• Pearl and Peony Crafts: Handcrafted, nickel-free polymer clay earrings in a variety of styles, including books, holiday, 3D flowers, coastal and more. Each pair is handmade, lightweight and for pieces with 3D flowers, every petal is individually hand-shaped and placed, ensuring that each pair is a one-of-a-kind piece of wearable art.

In addition to shopping local, you can make an even bigger impact by bringing donations for the cats in our foster program. We’ll be collecting new, unopened cat food and litter to help stock our foster homes throughout the holiday season, when the need is especially great.
