Seniors Deserve Love Too: Why Older Cats Make the Best Companions

At Ten Lives Cat Rescue, we believe every cat deserves love, especially our seniors.

These sweet souls may have a little more life experience under their belt (and a few extra naps scheduled throughout the day), but what they offer in return is something truly special: unwavering companionship, gentle affection, and the kind of gratitude that melts your heart.

If you’ve never considered adopting a senior cat, we’d love to introduce you to some very good reasons, four of whom are currently looking for homes right here in Rhode Island.

What Makes Senior Cats So Special?

Kittens might bring the chaos (and the curtain climbing), but senior cats bring the calm. With many, they’ve already figured out who they are, what they like, and what makes them feel safe. They can be easygoing and content with a cozy spot and your company, some prefer to be in the same room as you and others prefer to be as close to you as possible.

They’re past the high-energy kitten stage, many senior cats are just looking for some love a cozy place to nap. Many have already become masters of the slow blinks, warm snuggles, and quiet loyalty.

We’ve watched countless senior cats settle into new homes and blossom with love and care. They all come from various situations and many of them are overlooked. And still, they choose to trust again.

Senior Cats Need Us, And We Need You

We’re proud to help senior cats across Rhode Island find loving families, but we can’t do it alone.
