Meow Mixer Beneficiaries
On August 31st, we will be hosting a Meow Mixer at Working Man Distillers in Pawtucket, RI. We hope you’ll join us for a fun afternoon that includes adoptable cats, spirits, Friskie Fries food truck, and a 50/50 raffle. This event is open to the community and tickets are not required to attend. Can’t attend the event? You can still participate in our 50/50 raffle!
Your support will allow us to fund life-changing surgeries for Jean and Admiral. You can read more about these special felines below.

Jean
12-year-old Jean joined Ten Lives after a concerned community member contacted us for help. When Jean arrived, she was shaking her head, pawing at her ears, and drooling. Upon closer look, we discovered black-colored growths in her ears and inflamed gums.
After a visit to our partner veterinarian, we discovered that Jean needed treatment for hyperthyroidism and dental surgery. Jean was also referred to a surgeon, where she was diagnosed with ceruminous adenomatosis.
This is a non-cancerous disorder that results in nodules growing in the ear. Due to the nodules obstructing the ear canals and Jean being in pain, it was recommended that she receive a Total Ear Canal Ablation and Bulla Osteotomy (TECA-BO) for both ears.
Jean’s veterinary care is estimated to cost nearly $10,000.

Admiral
Before joining Ten Lives, Admiral lived outside in Providence. A Good Samaritan contacted us for help after they noticed Admiral limping and struggling to get around.
Once at the vet clinic, we discovered that Admiral had a fractured femur. Based on images, the vet believed that this was an older injury that Admiral has been living with. Since the injury has started healing, we could put Admiral on bedrest and see if the bone fully heals. However, this would require Admiral to be contained for a long period of time and can result in chronic stiffness, discomfort, and decreased mobility.
After discussing with our vet, we decided that amputation would be the best option for Admiral. We moved forward with the surgery in mid-August, but Admiral sadly passed away unexpectedly less than 24 hours after surgery. Though we’re unsure of the exact cause, we believe it could have been a blood clot or an underlying heart condition.
Admiral’s surgery cost nearly $4,000. While Admiral is no longer with us, we are still responsible for the cost of his surgery.
