Spay it Forward
In April 2020, Ten Lives launched the Spay it Forward campaign in response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19. We asked our community to support our efforts to spay and neuter cats in our community by donating $25. Thanks to generous donors, we were able to raise $6,000 and prevent needless suffering for generations of cats. Due to the incredible success of our campaign, we decided to launch a low-cost spay and neuter voucher program to further reduce the barriers and increase access to affordable spay and neuter services.
Since 2020, we have distributed more than 500 spay/neuter vouchers to community members. This work has been funded by a generous grant from the Rhode Island Foundation and donations from supporters.
Why Spay and Neuter?
- Cats who are spayed/neutered live longer and healthier lives.
- Spaying your cat helps prevent uterine infections and breast tumors.
- Spaying your cat eliminates unwanted behaviors like yowling and spraying.
- Neutering your cat prevents testicular cancer and some prostate issues.
- Neutering your cat prevents unwanted behaviors like spraying, yowling, and fighting.
- Spaying and neutering prevents overpopulation.
Voucher Requests
Due to overwhelming demand, we are no longer accepting requests for vouchers. If more vouchers become available, we will make an announcement on social media!
We are thrilled to announce that our low-cost voucher program has been funded for 2024-2025! Thanks to a grant from the Rhode Island Foundation and support from generous supporters, we will distribute up to 200 vouchers. This cycle, vouchers will include spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, and microchip for $40. We are also excited to announce that vouchers can be redeemed at Potter League Spay & Neuter Clinic and Providence Animal Rescue League. These partnerships will reduce wait times and help get more cats spayed/neutered!
